Abandoned Place: Old Tobacco Barn In Leland, North Carolina

Here are a couple of photos I took of what I think is an abandoned tobacco barn near Leland, North Carolina.  It was located near the parking lot of a moving truck rental place.  I'm not sure if it was abandoned or used for storage, but it certainly is an old building with lots of character.  I took this picture from a nearby parking lot and did not trespass on the property.

I know from my own family history that tobacco was harvested and allowed to hang and dry in totally closed barns.  I suspect that the poles that are being used to bolster the roof overhang originally belonged inside for hanging tobacco.

At any rate, this weathered building has character in spades and is a wonderful sight in any southern landscape.

Some people travel far and wide to see exotic sites.  That's great if you have the budget.  But, I just zoom in a little closer on things that are a little closer to home.  For example, this Buddha was for sale in a Ross, TJ Maxx, or Marshalls store.

Jonquils in Brawner Park in Smryna, Georgia

It's hard to resist our favorite park in the spring time.  The flowers in Brawner Park in Smyrna look great.

Brawner Hall was originally built as a hospital in the early 1900s. Today, it is used by the City of Smyrna, Georgia, as a public event space. It can be rented and weddings often happen in the Hall or on its grounds.

In Atlanta, some apartment complexes put on quite a flower show in the Spring.  Here are some of the tulips, jonquils, and other flowers used for ornamental landscaping at one complex in the Atlanta area.

While the best flowers are typically arranged in front of the rental office to set the mood for potential tenants, other flowers are scattered throughout the complex. Jonquils or daffodils are most commonly seen around the parking lots.

Jonquil Flower Photo: The First Blooms of Spring

Spring is just around the corner.  The jonquil flowers are blooming here in Georgia and the birds are starting to collect nesting materials.  I took this photo with my cell phone camera looking up a hill at a jonquil flower that was spectacularly backlit by the late afternoon sun.

I took this shot one morning near our apartment.  It is the sun rising over a treeline.  I thought that the clouds made for a neat photo. It also goes to show that you don't always have to go somewhere far far away to take photographs.  There are plenty of opportunities in your own neighborhood.
